Let's just say, you were aware of an upcoming birthdate...

What sort of thing do you think would be best to surprise someone with for such an occasion? I'm making a list.

A cake that large seems like it would have too much leftover as it is...I think they save those for bachelor parties or similar, uncertain.

Mmh, very true on chocolates and flowers, those are definitely out. A book might be good though...

I don't...think a party is wise for this one- I suspect something quiet would be best.

Regarding the cake: suppose that's so, or it simply depends on the age of the birthday person.

Tea and biscuits/cake would be a quiet, small affair.

I just need to get them convinced on it in that case...

Indeed. I'm always pleased to find someone else who might share a similar origin world!

I have faith you can convince them. And if they don't go in for tea, cocoa is my personal favorite. Who can say no to cocoa with marshmallows and a sweet treat?

Likewise! I haven't been able to visit the country much, but what little I've seen was nice enough at least.

I suspect the tea will be something they're more receptive to- I do appreciate that faith however...I'm half waiting to see them tearing through the door over this post, as if knowing...
