new bulletin board, who dis?
[That title is absolutely not ic or present at all ok. This angel is NOT that cool.]
Now that we're all getting settled in, I thought it might be nice if we introduce ourselves! So many lovely new faces, and I'm sure much has changed for those of us making a return as well.
So let's put this bulletin board to good use: Who are you?
And we should probably share a little tidbit about ourselves as well. A get-to-know each other--but nothing like those hellish corporate ice-breakers. You're absolutely not obligated to participate, of course, but it does seem like good fun, doesn't it?
I'll go first: My name is Mr. Fell; I love cocoa and long walks in the park, and I own a bookshop back home.

Well. Admittedly it's more incredible because I'm used to 'Camelot' as a story based firmly in bygone eras but...still, that's amazing.
Well, there won't be much modern here...not that we aren't managing as you can see with the bulletins, but computers are certainly not a thing. Let alone....
...Smartphones? I'm picturing a more advanced cellphone, tell me if I'm right. [Mid-90s canon struggle is when your technology is advanced but only in certain places, really.]

That’s okay, I am more used to not having access to modern technology in my world: back in my old world, we don’t have computers that are super advance, but I did recall my uncle having a PDA for work. The wizarding side of my world, not so much.
no subject
I suppose technically what I inhabited would have been considered advanced, but part of that is the fact that no one actually unveiled the technology- more important priorities for the then CEO.
Wizarding side?
[Give him a second.]
Just a guess, but is magic separated from mundane where you came from?
no subject
Unfortunately yes: the magical and mundane exist in my original world, but they couldn’t get along most of the time compared to Avalon. Let’s just say that in my world, not everyone in both sides wouldn’t get along with each other; it’s very complicated to say the least.
no subject
I don't recommend it. [0/10, bad times all around.]
Hmmm. That sounds...very much like it could backfire so hopefully some sort of back-up is underway there in that case.
no subject
Same here. I was hoping that everyone in my world could get along in peace regardless if anyone has magic or not after we have ended a major crisis in the magical side, but I guess that must be wishful thinking on my part since it will take a lot more effort and time to change people’s minds.
(Harry hasn’t mentioned how poorly treated he was under his maternal relatives (minus Dudley who has since changed for the better) and how serious the magic blood issue was in his world just yet.)

Ahhh. The trouble is internal for the most part then. That would definitely make re-integration messy- messier still if it's found out right off.
Hopefully with time things are worked through enough to step forward willingly...but if your society has been hidden away especially long, that could be a matter of decades anyway.
['Plenty' of time, loosely put.]
Well, we're here instead now~ So there isn't much use in dwelling on that.

But since I am far away from home for so long, I can’t just dwell on those thoughts all the time.
Oh wait a minute, I didn’t get your name by the way, can I ask what it is please?
no subject
Noa Kaiba. I'm in the Valhudor house, I've been here for a few years now.

(I'd certainly encountered it, but having been quite locked to a computer that was minimal as you might imagine)

I can at least confirm that having something of an upbringing with musical training helped for Valhudor.

Music was one of the subjects I was tutored in. It was something of an expectation, and naturally I did my best to excel as part of that.
Grant you, I was playing violin, not ocarina... ...but the basic principles were still there.
Valhudor focuses on 'Fantastics', however- magic through music and sound. Case in point, the head of the house isn't actually a professor of magics- she's a completely mundane professor of music.

My house specializes in Thaumaturgy: basically magic for magic’s sake.

Ah yes, I take classes in that one! Though I don't think we'll be sharing- I'm in the fifth semester of the course run.

Guess that I’ll have to wait and see for the first day of classes.

Yes it's natural. [Don't ask, he's not sure either.]

A friend of mine from used to change her appearance at will, including the colour of her hair.
