new bulletin board, who dis?

Now that we're all getting settled in, I thought it might be nice if we introduce ourselves! So many lovely new faces, and I'm sure much has changed for those of us making a return as well.

So let's put this bulletin board to good use: Who are you?

And we should probably share a little tidbit about ourselves as well. A get-to-know each other--but nothing like those hellish corporate ice-breakers. You're absolutely not obligated to participate, of course, but it does seem like good fun, doesn't it?

I'll go first: My name is Mr. Fell; I love cocoa and long walks in the park, and I own a bookshop back home.

Noa Kaiba. I'm in the Valhudor house, I've been here for a few years now.

Nice to meet you, Noa. I’m in Aer et Calculum and I am new here too.

The pleasure is mine. I can only imagine it's a bit more intriguing from the standpoint of someone who had magic in their home to begin with.

(I'd certainly encountered it, but having been quite locked to a computer that was minimal as you might imagine)

Why thank you, Noa. I must have gotten lucky with the house selection since I wasn’t sure of where I would have ended up in.

I take it your magic was similar to the primary focus of that house then?

Yeah, that’s what I’ve found out when I got into the house. I’m hoping that the transition will turn out alright for me.

I can at least confirm that having something of an upbringing with musical training helped for Valhudor.

Oh wow, so are you a musician back in your world, Noa? I wonder what Valhudor is about.

Ahhhh not quite-

Music was one of the subjects I was tutored in. It was something of an expectation, and naturally I did my best to excel as part of that.

Grant you, I was playing violin, not ocarina... ...but the basic principles were still there.

Valhudor focuses on 'Fantastics', however- magic through music and sound. Case in point, the head of the house isn't actually a professor of magics- she's a completely mundane professor of music.

Oh that’s really nice: the use of sounds and music does sound very interesting. I didn’t have something similar to that in my world.

It's been fairly fascinating~ Naturally there's the simple idea of carrying magic along through the power of holding a tune in addition to lyrical play, but there's subtler applications as well. I believe the first example we were given involved simply humming bass notes in order to avoid notice because, and I quote, 'No one ever notices the bass player'.

Hm, that’s really neat. I am staring to get the hang of it already.

My house specializes in Thaumaturgy: basically magic for magic’s sake.

Ah yes, I take classes in that one! Though I don't think we'll be sharing- I'm in the fifth semester of the course run.

That’s pretty understandable since I’m just a new student and in my first semester right now, so it is possible that we might not see each other a lot in class often.

Guess that I’ll have to wait and see for the first day of classes.

Indeed we shall. Worst case, I'll no doubt see you somewhere on campus. If you want to try spotting me, look for the young teenager with green hair.

Yes it's natural. [Don't ask, he's not sure either.]

Okay, I got it. I definitely wouldn’t miss the green hair whenever I might see you around campus.

A friend of mine from used to change her appearance at will, including the colour of her hair.

Just like that? Did she have any favorites?

She is a shapeshifting witch: she can change any part of her body into something different, but she couldn’t turn into an animal though. That’s a different branch of shapeshifting in my world.

Obviously, she usually sticks with having short pink hair most of the time.

I feel like that makes sense; if you're sticking within your species parameters, there wouldn't be much to change.

Hah, of course...well, that would work well enough in the 'non-magical' world if she ever desired then.

I would definitely agree as well. At least she wouldn’t worrying about dying her hair often like most people do.

I can just imagine the jealous remarks- 'ah, you always manage to get your roots perfectly, how do you manage it!'

...I hope that given preference she's the sort to joking reply 'with magic'.

I’m also imagining the same thing as well, Noa. I’m literally laughing loudly, thinking about it right now.

HAH! Good to know- I wonder, if I could somehow charm these to allow a mimicry of voice and video now...wouldn't that be incredible then?

Oh yes, I’m pretty certain on that as well. That would be really brilliant, Noa.
