[MIDTERM STUDY GROUP]

I've only been here for a short while, but it's become fairly evident that many of us are getting 'exam nerves' regarding the upcoming midterms. For the most part, I've been helping others of my house with Physics- but, it could prove beneficial if more of us came together to create a study plan for the other classes.

This doesn't just mean digging through books of course- a lot of our tests will no doubt be practical. For that matter, it would help everyone if we could find study methods that match with our own habits. Not everyone thrives on reading and re-reading, after all.

This is a great idea. I only just got here, so I could really use the help, especially with the actual magic classes! But I can help, too. I'm actually helping the astronomy teacher here, and I have experience with studying plants, and art.

I would hope the instructors here at least allow some sort of relief for the newer students- we'll do what we can though.

Those fields are all ones where I can't say my focus lies, so it seems we'll be able to spread our skills across nicely. The closest I come to art for the moment is simple sketching...and music- Valhudor requirement.

Yes- it's another required class after all. I typically play violin, but since coming here I've been utilizing an ocarina. Four hole.

I'm not very familiar with the ocarina or the violin, although I know what they are! I've just never played either of them. But I could still help you with sheet music and things, maybe!

Well, we can see how our instruments compare at the very least.

What do you play then?

I play the guitar. I'd love to learn another instrument, too.

I admit, I've never tried guitar. Perhaps we can compare stringed instruments though.

So a peer tutoring group?

It's worth a try. Easier to learn when you're teaching someone else.

Something like that- some of us might benefit one on one, others not so much. Regardless, I think going at it like this will benefit everyone- especially anyone who has trouble with certain teachers here.

The staff do well, but between biases and teaching methods, some of us were bound to have problems.

Do you have a plan on where and when this is going to happen?

Originally this was going to be in the Valhudor common room....however, I might have to ask the librarian if there is space we can use instead at this point. I don't think it'll be wise to crowd a dorm common room, especially if we'll be practicing magic.

Wouldn't the labs work? There's usually at least a couple free in the evenings.

That's a good point.

I would still prefer we ask- just in case there's some sort of restriction on what we can or can't do in there...but the labs would absolutely be a good location.

I think that's a great idea! I'd definitely be up for a study group.

At this point there's a strong chance we'll either be meeting in one of the labs, or near the library. I need to check with one of the professors...

Sounds good. Do we have an idea of how long we'll be studying? Or you think that will depend on where we're at?

Where, but also 'what', I think- some of us won't want to study as much as the others...not to mention, schedule line ups...

Maybe we should bring snacks. Having something to eat can help people stay focused.

I'll have to bring up that as a question- both libraries And laboratories likely have their own rules for food.

Yeah, that's true too. So we'll hold off on that until we get an answer.

Is there anything else we might need that I can help with?

We have questions of food and location permissions to handle, and then the simple matter of spreading word...

I think that's all we have- we could divide who asks who about what perhaps? We are on a time limit after all.

That works- I'll ask around about the option of the labs, then.

We should be able to. There's still a good amount of time, I think. We just have to use it wisely.

[She kind of misses Twilight, who probably would have come up with a studying schedule by now. But Fluttershy will just have to do her best.]
