Now that we're all getting settled in, I thought it might be nice if we introduce ourselves! So many lovely new faces, and I'm sure much has changed for those of us making a return as well.


So let's put this bulletin board to good use: Who are you?


And we should probably share a little tidbit about ourselves as well. A get-to-know each other--but nothing like those hellish corporate ice-breakers. You're absolutely not obligated to participate, of course, but it does seem like good fun, doesn't it?

i'm a bit partial to that one too. ok i'd really love to sit down with ya sometime and see what all the hype's about with this queen business and whatever else. i'm gonna subject you to my music and the sights of night city too, though.

i mean he probably woulda been if he wasn't dead. so just as a little background rache bartmoss was probably the most genius netrunner to have lived and he hated the corps almost as much as i do. rabids was supposed to dump all of the data from the corpo datafortresses on his death. and it did? but that also released all of the ai from the corpos, including all the military ai and stuff. they evolved and it was just a big mess, from what i could find. which isn't much. netwatch isn't big on bein' honest about it outside of their own fucking propoganda.

I think I need a glossary. Who are these Rabids people? And what's the deal with the Corps? ... Why would dumping his data unleash all that other stuff? Don't get me wrong, I'm following on context pretty well: big conspiracy vibes, government cover-ups, heavy shit. Sounds like a total cluster.

okay so rabids is the virus itself. it's an acronym for something but idr it - too long and unimportant. but rabids was the virus that got unleashed on the net. money's where the power is.

corps are um. so they're not the government but they are the government? it's kinda like they're their own little country thing, and like they aren't part of like the nusa gov't but they can like... change policy? i don't know if that makes sense.

so basically like everyone's got an ai that does shit for em right? ok so imagine the nusa govnerment's ai. whatever the army got they got an ai, the air force? they got one too. marines got one, navy's got one, etc. who knows what they do but you know at least part of their duties is managing weapons, collecting intelligence, etc. like normally this ai's in its neat picket fence of the corpo that owns it? but then bartmoss's virus, rabids, comes along and opens the the gate in that fence and lets it out and it starts mutating and it interacts with the other military ais - or whatever corpo ai it meets - and they start to evolve off each other. i'm sure you can imagine what that looks like..

Somehow I get the feeling that 'forgive' and 'forget' are mutually exclusive terms here. ;)

I just tried to imagine it, yeah, and it didn't seem fun. Lots of nightmare visions of military states run by computers. Real 'Shadowrun' type stuff. Am I close to the mark?
