Now that we're all getting settled in, I thought it might be nice if we introduce ourselves! So many lovely new faces, and I'm sure much has changed for those of us making a return as well.


So let's put this bulletin board to good use: Who are you?


And we should probably share a little tidbit about ourselves as well. A get-to-know each other--but nothing like those hellish corporate ice-breakers. You're absolutely not obligated to participate, of course, but it does seem like good fun, doesn't it?

Okay, uh. Well. There are layers to this depending on how much human stuff you know. You know what a phone is, right? Maybe?

I'm familiar with what phones are, among other communication devices.

Okay, that makes this a lot easier. Where I'm from, when people have an emergency and need help, they dial the number '9-1-1'. There are people hired to answer the phone at that number and send the police, the fire department, an ambulance... that sort of stuff. They're called dispatchers. Only, instead of me getting callers who need the police or any of that ... I get all the calls filtered to me that are probably wastes of time. Or at least, most people think they are. Sometimes, a caller will be seeing monsters, or ghosts - stuff that's real, but not everyone can see. I can talk 'em through it. Tell 'em what to do.

So your service normally is the one that alerts guards and heroes to trouble, but has no means of dealing with magical incursions?

[Then Ronstadt was most definitely not from the same universe Loki was. Otherwise that upstart of a sorcerer in New York would likely be dealing with these problems. Which lead to an interesting thought---Ronstadt had recognized Loki's name. ...That was interesting.]

Yeah, exactly. Because only people who can use magic can see it ... and they all like keeping it a secret. So, um. One day, I just kinda knew I needed to go apply for the job. I didn't even see the listing. It was like I was meant to do it. Sounds weird, right?

Okay, is the Viking spelling thing intentional because you're Loki, or intentional because you're thinking of something I don't know about that might actually mean something useful? I can't tell.

Which, you know, is probably the point, since you're a trickster god.
