Now that we're all getting settled in, I thought it might be nice if we introduce ourselves! So many lovely new faces, and I'm sure much has changed for those of us making a return as well.


So let's put this bulletin board to good use: Who are you?


And we should probably share a little tidbit about ourselves as well. A get-to-know each other--but nothing like those hellish corporate ice-breakers. You're absolutely not obligated to participate, of course, but it does seem like good fun, doesn't it?

johnny silverhand was the guitarist and genius behind a group called samurai! they're nova! real heavy punk feel, very anti-corpo. johnny bombed arasaka tower in the middle of night city in 2020 just to really stick it to the megacorps and he's just really iconic, ok?

bea sting's a bassist from like 2045 or something. they were in three bands, but their best band (and the one they started all on her own and built up from scratch) was Love Bass Hate Corps. they're just really great, sound real preem. got a funky bass and it's just real good music to dance to.

I see. In so far as linguistic evolutions go, at least premium to preem makes more sense than many.

as far as what evolutions go? you know what, nevermind. ok since you got an in with absolutely ridiculously old language, what's the most gonk slang you ever heard? or the most confusing?

I assume gonk to mean something clever or interesting, or perhaps off-the-wall, and nothing to do with those horrendous toys from the mid-twentieth century.

As far as most confusing, I think anything is confusing when you are not part of the In Crowd or used to the jargon. I knew a gentleman who used to call glasses "ogle fakes" because that was the in mode way of talking for a particular group of fellows, but I was part of that crowd, so it hardly seemed foreign after a while.

I've never been good with keeping up with trends, though. Somewhere around the turn of the century, people decided things were the "bee's knees" and aside from the rhyming being clever, I can't understand why something spiffy and very well liked was at all related to insect joints. You Americans also had a fascinating phrase: "jonesing," and while I understand what it means, I still don't understand who this Jones fellow might be and why he had a craving for so very many things.

i guess that makes sense. i been having to explain all my slang from night city since i got here, stuff that's real common in the gangs. kinda forget that people don't speak the same as me here - all of it's so much habit. it's kinda hard to get adjusted to having to talk like some bennie out-of-towner.

i dunno where any of that came from either. that's all long, long, long before my time. dunno that i've ever heard anything about any bee's knees but jonesin' still around.

keeping up with the trends - what, you real old in the way only cyberware can keep you going?
