Does anyone else find it ridiculous that people younger than an arbitrary age are forced into communal living, at the mercy of roommates who may or may not have lost their minds, while the rest of you get your own rooms? I've been legally emancipated for years on my world, and I'm definitely above the age of majority by now, yet I'm stuck with a dorm-mate building trash piles in our room. Let me write that again and underline it for emphasis. Trash. Piles. I've blasted away as many as I can find, but they always come back. Yes, I've always wanted to live in a pigsty.

It only just occurs to me that had we been back home, and been in the timeline that our world was following along--today would be the first of the new year, the first of January, anno Domini 2020. As such, it marks the start of a year that commemorates an impressive anniversary of an even more impressively enduring Arrangement.

Dear classmates-

I realize the moment itself has come and gone, now, but how does one ring in the new year in each of your worlds?

In my world, it is often accompanied by toasting with a bubbly wine known as Champagne, watching a fireworks display, and participating in some kind of boisterous celebratory countdown to the moment the clock changes over (Edinburgh's Hogmanay is a riotous street party--an absolute delight). And then there are kisses. And singing of Auld Lang Syne. And New Years Resolutions, I suppose. The new year is symbolic of hope and change.

What do you hope to accomplish or change this upcoming year?

Admittedly, it has been a very long time since I've attempted to host any kind of party, so I'm just a tad out of practice. But it wouldn't be anything too big--we do still have studies to attend to.

I was thinking a gathering of fellow students and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in perhaps...tea and biscuits? Some cake as well? Or pie, as that seems to be seasonally appropriate.

Tuesday? If that's not too short of notice, is it? Outdoors, weather permitting, or in a corner of the Great Hall unless someone has a better suggestion for tea-time?

However, despite the uncertainty in his inquiry, the writing itself is spot on. This is all penned very neatly, with the styling of someone who was once and still is very comfortable writing with a quill--and not in the Modern Hipster Instagram Crafter way, but in a way that has been sculpted by changing influences over time and adapted to suit his personal aesthetic. There's an air of English Roundhand to it, with hints older styles like Chancery in some of the letters. The penmanship is flowing and legible and very old-fashioned, but not quite ancient. Circa late-1700 to mid-1800, so very modern! Someone knows very well that they are DAMN GOOD at pretty writing, missed doing it, and is quite happy to take the opportunity to show off.]

I have over 30 years experience with antique and rare books, including acquisition and preservation of historical and culturally valuable documents. This is going to sound like a bizarre question..... but I don't suppose that anyone has come across any spare puzzle pieces lying around?

[No, don't worry- the Millennium Puzzle is quite in tact, but the Millennium Idol, aka Falcon, aka Horus (when in it's Falcon form) is the puzzle in need. With all the recent thefts courtesy of the rats it's not going to make this any easier either]

To give you an idea of what it likely looks like- you need only to recall my second familiar. I've never seen this piece myself but apparently this puzzle can be put together another way.

Help Wanted: Electric Guitar Repair

Forging Commissions

I've gotten pretty good with forging, lately. I've made a few pieces that were well received and completed two requests, so I was thinking now that I have some supplies, that I'd take on a few commissions if anyone was interested. I specialize in bladed weapons mostly, but I'm also interested in experimenting in other areas like armor and such.

I will need a design to work off of, along with some details and what sort of spell you'd like imbued into the piece. We can talk about that if you aren't sure, but it needs to be decided on before I start to craft it.

For payment, I don't want to charge a lot because this is partly for my own practice, but I'll need enough to cover the cost of materials at least, so it will vary for each piece depending on rarity. I expect it will take me a few weeks to finish a piece between classes and other obligations, so I think I'll only accept two commissions to start with, then when one is complete, I can start the process for the next if I receive more than two requests.

So if you're interested, you can reply here and we can arrange a time to meet if you like. Or if you see me around, I'll be happy to talk to you in person.

Okay, so, everyone swapping minds and bodies and stuff? Me and Yuugi were trying to use a spell to change our species - so I could feel what it's like to be human, and he could feel what it's like to be a duck. We thought we had it perfected, but clearly we didn't. We didn't mean for all that to happen! And we'll never try anything like that again, we promise.

But! If you want to look on the bright side, maybe this whole experience gave you some insight on your fellow classmates? They say the best way to learn about someone is to walk a mile in their shoes!

WANTED: HORSE ASSISTANCE

For all that it was a horrid experience, one good thing has come from participating in the research matters this particular month; while far from what I expected, I've managed to be reunited with my horse from home!

Unfortunately I now have to handle the question of where they can be housed. I don't recall seeing any campus stables. Perhaps I'm wrong, but regardless someone needs to tell me where they are if that's the case.

I want to make sure I can properly care for them while here for that matter. And perhaps socializing with other people will be good for them, ultimately.

(Her name is Kuma by the way. She was trained for dressage, and hopefully will be able to show that off.)

Hey guys,

Maybe this is a bit of a weird question, but...if you're trying to improve yourself, how do you track your progress?

I thought I was past worrying about this stuff, but a few weeks ago something infected me. And it brought me right back to my horrible school bully days---I was pretty scary. And I know this is late, but I'm truly sorry for those of you I hurt. If there's ever anything I can do to help, please tell me.

You might say I was possessed and not at fault, but...where I'm from, magic like that doesn't really comes from nowhere. It always latches onto existing feelings of resentment and cruelty and makes them grow. So I'm worried that that darkness is still inside me, waiting to come out. And I'm just...trying to figure out how to live with that.
