a "long time ago"—time isn't really translatable across multiverses but eh—some ancient fucks who destroyed their own world on accident (accounts differ here on whether or not it was on purpose, but even they weren't that batshit) migrated to a place called crystallis which

was also dying

so they panicked and started feeding other worlds to crystallis to keep it alive

a key part of this process was drawing in people from said worlds and forging a bond between them and crystallis to act as a conduit, then destroying their world as fuel for crystallis

eventually the corpses of the worlds crystallis destroyed to sustain itself formed a being known as the calamity, and a long long long LONG story later, a group of outworlders brought to crystallis by the calamity managed to seal the thing away in a new world: vaikuntha

and then some reincarnated versions of avatars of the calamity and the architect of the calamity itself incarnated and decided to fuck everything up again for shits and giggles and so vaikuntha reached out to more "Heroes of Light" to save it

i was one of those

now here's the thing

on crystallis, all Heroes of Light had a piece of the calamity inside them

this piece manifested as a shadow, which embodied everything you hate about yourself, and the heroes of light had to conquer it as part of the plan to seal away the calamity

anyways, you good? like on a personal level

that shadow shit can be draining

Once you accept a shadow as part of you, you've permanently reconciled. Unless you spontaneously develop an entirely new and different series of complexes, and even then dealing with your shadow in the first place will help you handle it.

Regardless, unless somebody were to pump me full of more Calamity which should be downright impossible on this world, it won't happen again.

The "whole shadow thing" was only partly your fault. You may have been the catalyst that triggered their physical manifestation, but it's not as if those shadows weren't already worries residing inside us to begin with. My shadow, if that's what we're calling that awful creature, was entirely of my own making. I suspect it's the same with others.
